A Lunaramirez
One of the most addicting games you can find.
I'm one of those players that hates crafting. I've not played an MMO in the last decade that's ever made it enjoyable for me. Or even made it really worthwhile.
Probably can go as far back as DAoC pre-Trials back when crafted gear was the best gear in the game did I see a benefit of it. Now I've hit a wall in Legion. I can't progress my demon hunter campaign until I get Obliterum. Which I can't unlock until I get this fucking stupid Trial By Fel Fire quest done. I'm not a gold farmer, but I dont really ever spend gold either except on the necessities like garrison upgrades, flight upgrades for alts, etc. Yet, I'm not really rolling in the gold either. Yet looking on the AH, with the gold I have, I simply can't afford to buying all of the bracers.
And this immediately follows the 5 fucking table missions(ie pointless time gates) I had to wait to complete only to hit the next 'here's more unfun shit for you to do.' Christ at this point, Khadgar's need for Apexis Crystals seems more fun than this shit. Just reading on what I need to do to get Obliterum - why the fuck did Blizzard think ANY of this process was fun or engaging? I've LOVED Legion up until this point and this just threw the brakes on and threw a total buzz kill on this expac for me. Maybe because I despise crafting so much that I have such a low tolerance for it. I don't know. But I really feel like I've hit a wall now.
All of my Emissary stuff is on CD. I could farm world quests for AP, but this wall has turned me off really even bothering with progression now. Even when prices come down to reasonable levels on the bracers, the whole process of Obliterum just sounds so fucking brain dead boring. And knowing all my alts would have to do this shit too just killed my desire to work on an alt. Ugh, so disappointed.
God this was such a great expac too. This shit is a total buzz kill for me. The correct translation is: if you're going to put a speed bump in the game. Make it an interesting one. I've been fine with the time gates like week long work orders and 5 sets of table missions - twice. But to come out of the 2nd round of table missions eager to hit the next step in the class campaign and its ANOTHER speed bump.
That's a buzzkill IMO. I'm about as casual as they come. I'd rather they just say 'The campaign continues in future updates' rather than 'here's an annoying speed bump that's completely un-engaging.' It's like reading a good mystery book and before you can read the next chapter of the mystery book you must first read half a dozen shitty romance novels first. So you read the shitty romance novels and open your good mystery book on for it to say 'now go take a pottery course, make a shitty plate, and you can read the next chapter of this story.'
I understand it's not a singleplayer game - which is why you dont see me mentioning the other part of the requirement. Collecting Soverign Souls off of dungeon bosses.
I'm totally fine with that requirement. Look forward to forming guild groups to do it for the guild. And I have no doubt at some point there will be requirements to get things off of raid bosses. I'm fine will all of that. My concern is I bought the Obliterum for 10K(the cheapest on our AH). That gets me around this part. But will this Obliterum forge going to be used again as requirement for progressing my class campaign?
Engineering Failure Analysis
They've already proven they'll use the 5 table missions speed bump multiple times. Given that they're making a quest out of this forge, I suspect it will be something I just have to unlock and use. Because they're trying to stress the importance of professions. Last expansion everyone could be pretty self-sufficient through the garrison and they complained because what was the point in even having professions like Alchemy if everyone could make their own potions? Now they are reintroducing the idea that players should try to take part in the trading of goods, which is what a lot of people miss because it allows them to make something for other people and trade/sell it for something they need.
It's a way to promote interaction between players, something that is core to the entire idea of an MMO. You found something that you don't enjoy and that's okay. Not every single person is going to enjoy every single aspect of the game. I don't like PvP but I still do it to unlock transmog/mounts.
